The Component-Style Fiber Optic Prism Switches offered by Newport are switches that have high durability greater than 10 million cycles) and low insertion loss. The MPSN-62-22 is a multimode 2 x 2 switch using a moving prism between fixed collimator pairs, which allows bi-directional operation independent of data rate and signal format. 62.5/125 µm, 1 m long, jacketed bare fiber pigtails are standard. In addition, optional ST, FC and SC fiber connector termination options can be ordered.
This 2x2 single-mode switch is a fully reversing optical bypass switch, which is used to insert or bypass nodes in fiber ring networks. These non-blocking, non-latching components require a 5V DC switching voltage. Applications include bypassing of FDDI and SONET network stations, automated and remote fiber test systems.
